Northwest Vacation

Helllo Y'all.  In the month of October, Dan and I had the opportunity to go on a mini vacation (5 days) to Washington State and Oregon.  We left Jeselyn in Iowa with Grandma and Grandpa Burrus.  I think it was a good time to do this since Jes is young and didn't necessarily miss us.
We flew into Seattle and drove down through the mountains. Then on the way back, we drove up the coast.  We had a wonderful time together hiking and seeing beautiful nature.  We saw mountains, orchards, waterfalls, lighthouses, the ocean, and caves.  God blessed us with lovely weather too.

So glad to be back to our pumpkin though.  The trip was just long enough.  I was ready to come home and be mommy again.

Jeselyn Growing Up

Jeselyn is already almost nine months old!  I can't believe how fast she is growing up.  Here are some recent pictures:

New Baby-Jeselyn Grace

Everyone probably knows by now (via Facebook) that our daughter was born last Sunday.  Today she is a week old.  This first week at home has gone by so fast.  I can't believe she is a week old already.

I think I am officially a baby person now.  =)  I was so concerned that I really wouldn't like her that much since I wasn't that big on babies.  But everyone is correct.  You fall in love with your baby right away, and even go so far as to not want them to get older yet!  As I face she is a week old and already past her birth weight (7lb 7oz) at 8 lbs, she is growing up too fast.  j16

The delivery I thought went quickly.  Dan and I had walked all the floors of the Mall of America, went jeeping, had sex, and ate pineapple the day I went into labor.  (We were really wanting to have her in November as the 30th was the last day of my insurance--God answered that prayer.)  I started have real contractions about 10:00pm on Saturday night.  At 10:30 I started to time them.  They were three minutes apart and lasted for about 45 seconds.  They continued to be two to three minutes apart for the rest of labor.  Finally at 12:30am I called the baby line and they told me to come into the hospital.  We got to Abbott Northwestern around 2:30am.  When I got there I was at a four.

I wanted to try to have a natural birth without any medications, so I didn't take any pain killers.  The only thing that I was open to was an epidural, but I wanted to see how far I could get before I did that.  Well, finally at 6:00am I couldn't take the pain anymore and asked for an epidural.  They hooked me up to an IV and called the anethesiologist.  Around 6:45ish (before the anethesiologist got there), the midwife came in and checked me.  I was at a nine, so she broke my water and that made me completely dilated.  Then it was time to push.  I briefly remember the epidural guy walking in when I was pushing, but of course by then it was too late for that.  I pushed for about 15 minutes (through four contractions), and she was out!

For me the worst part was pushing since it had to be done during a contraction.  When Dan finally said, "I see the top of her head!" I got a burst of energy to make it through the last bits of pushing.

So, I don't know if I want to go through all of that again any time soon, but I can say it was totally worth it.  I love my little Jeselyn.  Kisses!  j20

PUPPPS

Up to 1 percent of pregnant women develop a condition characterized by itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies. This is called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy.

PUPPP usually begins in the third trimester and is more common among women carrying twins and those having their first baby. The eruptions usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and may spread to your thighs, buttocks, and arms. PUPPP is harmless for you and your baby, but it can itch like crazy!

______________________________________________

I have two more weeks "unofficially" to go in this pregnancy.  I so want it over right now.  I have gotten this PUPPPS thing and have had it for about a week.  Each day it just keeps spreading and getting worse and more uncomfortable.  There is no cure for it except delivery.  The only treatments there are for it are things like cortisone creams and anti-itch lotions--none of which give relief for very long.  I am getting little sleep at night because of the itching.

Please pray that I will get some relief!  I am trying really hard right now not to question "why me?" but it is hard.  Only 1% of pregnant woment get this, and I have to be in that 1%.  Did any of you have this problem?

I really need prayer for this right now.  I had wanted to enjoy the remainder of the pregnancy and not try to rush it, but now I just want it over so my body can get rid of this aweful  itchy rash.

Answer to Prayer

A little while ago I mentioned my Grandma was found with cancer again.  Well, she is now out of the hospital cancer free!

The Doctors ended up being wrong (or God chose to take her cancer away) and found out she has a skin disorder that does not let wounds heal properly.  She is on medication for that instead.

So good news...thanks everyone for saying a prayer.
